Excavation is site work that focuses on digging holes or trenches for basements, foundation footings, etc. Excavation usually involves the removal of tree stumps, rocks, and other large debris - as well as large terrain complications in order to help create the basis for a level surface. Grading / Site Leveling
Grading is the process by which the ground is flattened to a level surface after excavation has completed. The top layer of earth is removed to allow for a consistent, smooth, and level surface that's ready for construction or landscaping. Grading can be used to fix drainage problems by adjusting the slope of an area, to prep for driveways or sidewalks, and more!
